Infertility and blocked tubes

As we already know, there are two ovaries in a female reproductive system. These ovaries are connected to the uterus through the fallopian tubes. The eggs are released in the ovaries. If there is a blockage in the tubes, the egg might never travel to the uterus. The blockage may be in either one or both the tubes. 40 % of infertile women suffer due to this condition. There might be a partial blockage, which may lead to ectopic pregnancy which means the egg starts developing in the tube itself, which is a hazardous condition.

Causes of fallopian tubes

The fallopian tubes blockage might occur due to the following factors-

  1. Tuberculosis
  2. Ectopic Pregnancy
  3. Tubal Ligation Removal
  4. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
  5. Genital Tuberculosis
  6. Lower Abdominal Surgery like Cesarean section
  7. Uterine fibroids

Infertility and Tubal Blockage

Every month, the ovulation cycle of the female releases an egg from the ovaries. The egg then travels to the uterus through the fallopian tubes. The sperm travels to the egg after passing through the cervix and the uterus. The fertilization process usually occurs in the tubes. In case the tube is blocked, the egg can’t travel to the uterus and the sperm can’t travel to the egg. This becomes a major reason for infertility. Fallopian tube blockage treatment in Moga is offered at various clinics.

Diagnosis of Fallopian Tube Blockage

The tubal blockage is diagnosed with the help of HSG or hysterosalpingogram. It is a special X-ray mechanism. It involves the passage of a dye through the cervix which is injected through a tiny tube. The course of travel of the dye will clearly detect the blockages if any.

Symptoms of tube blockage

It is difficult to detect tubal blockage. Some women realize that they have a problem with their tubes only after they fail to conceive. Some women might experience pain in the pelvis or abdominal area during their periods. The condition may also lead to the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy which means the fertilized egg can’t reach the uterus. Ectopic pregnancy also doesn’t show any symptoms and leads to vaginal bleeding or pain on one side of the abdomen.

Is pregnancy possible with Blocked Fallopian Tubes?

Pregnancy in patients with Fallopian Tubes  blockage is possible with IVF. In the IVF procedure, the doctor retrieves the eggs from the woman’s uterus after stimulating the ovaries to produce more eggs per cycle using medicines. The eggs are made to fuse with the sperms in a lab petri dish. The fertilized eggs are allowed to develop into embryos. After monitoring the embryos for a period of 2-3 days, the best ones are elected and implanted into the uterus of the woman. If everything goes according to the plan, the woman tests positive for pregnancy.

Laparoscopic surgery

Often the blocked tubes occur due to scarring of the tissues. Laparoscopic surgery has shown good results for treating scars in the tubes. But the method doesn’t guarantee to give hundred percent results, as it depends on various factors like the age of the female, the area of the blockage and the cause of the blockage.

Our clinic has been dealing in a lot of cases with infertility due to tubal blockage. We have successfully solved many cases and the patients have returned home with a smile on their lips and a baby in their arms.
