Timing of conception – different for every couple
There are different chances of successful conception in different couples. The average chance a couple has for conceiving naturally in a single month is 15%. It can as less as 5% for some couples and as high as 33% in couples who are very fertile. We already recognize the fact that each person is unique, but every couple is unique as well. This points to one truth, the chances of conception are different for every couple.
Irregular periods –varying causes
If a woman has regular periods, then she is ovulating regularly. It points to the fact that she is producing and releasing eggs. The direct inference from this fact is that she should be able to get pregnant. However, if a woman has irregular periods, then her chances of conception are affected. Irregular periods could be caused due to many factors like emotional or physical stress or excessive weight loss. Weight loss triggers a hormonal imbalance due to the decreased or decreased activity of the hypothalamus gland.
Infrequent periods and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
The condition of POS can trigger irregularity in the menstrual cycle. PCOS is characterized by weight gain accompanied by irregular periods. PCOS patients are also found to be insulin resistant which means that they have increased insulin content which can lead to hormonal imbalance. The women who have this condition are treated by helping them with weight loss, and stimulation of the ovaries.
Timing of Intercourse
The correct timing of intercourse plays a great role in conception. If a woman has regular periods, she will most likely ovulate after 14 days before the next period. Ovulation kits may be used to let the couples know the ovulation date. Couples should have intercourse every 2-3 days to increase their chances of conception.
