In this article, we are going to mention in detail the step by step guide for the ICSI treatment.
First of all, the ovary is inspected and then prepared for the ICSI treatment. The menstruation cycle is regulated for around 2 to 3 weeks to check the most fertile days. After that, the womb is checked for its thickness or thinness as it needs to get attached to the endometrium layer. Women also need to take fertility drugs. You need to talk to the doctor about the medications on how to take them. The entire process will take around 10 to 12 days.
Once enough eggs are produced, the doctor will do a procedure to collect them. The patient is given anesthesia so that he does not feel any pain or discomfort. One night before the procedure the patient is given an injection and you should not eat or drink anything.
You need to avoid intercourse for 3 to 5 days before fertilization. This will increase the chances of sperm getting into the womb. The process of egg retrieval will take around 20 to 30 minutes. Before the sperm is injected into the egg, it is properly checked.
Once the eggs are collected, you need to undergo the progesterone which is given once or twice in a day. This is a hormone that boosts the womb and the lining of the endometrium is developed as well as the embryo is fertilized. This process is done when you need to take a pregnancy test to check for the results.
Now comes the process of ICSI. In the IVF treatment, around 1,00,000 good quality sperm is used and they are artificially added to the eggs. The complete method is done in the petri dish and then kept in the incubator to keep the eggs warm. In the lab, the eggs are checked very precisely so that there is no problem.
The last step is the embryo transfer. The embryo is moved within 3 to 5 days and sometimes you might have to wait for 6 days. The embryos on the 5th day are known as a blastocyst and then they can go to the next stage. Additionally, when the eggs reach that specific stage it helps to increase the conception chances.
